Court Services Department
The Miami County Common Pleas Court – General Division established a department of Court Services in 2017 which consists of two divisions: Pre-Sentence Investigation and Pre-Trial Services. The Court maintains two Pre- Sentence Investigators who are responsible for conducting investigations of defendants and generating reports for purposes of Sentencing, Intervention in Lieu of Protection (ILC), Expungement, Certified Qualified Employment (CQE) and Judicial Release.
The Pre-Trial Services division consists of one full-time officer and one part-time officer who are responsible for the supervision of defendants placed on a reporting bond until final disposition of their case or by order of the Court.
The Pre-Trial officers link defendants to community services/resources and monitors a defendant’s compliance with the conditions of bond.
The Pre-Trial officers also screens defendants and provides the Court with Bond Reports in order to assist the Court in determining risk and to make recommendations concerning conditions of release.
