Special Response Team

Tactical Armored VehicleThe Miami County Sheriff's Office maintains a tactical armored vehicle that is used by the Miami County Special Response Team  (S.R.T.) when armed suspects are involved, tactical entry is required or individuals are barricaded or needing rescued.

The Sheriff's Office obtained this vehicle from the Vandalia Police Department.   The vehicle had been cannibalized and was in poor condition.  An area mechanic, Gene Osborne, accepted the task of making the vehicle operational.

The vehicle was stripped down to the shell, rebuilt and put in to service for use by the Special Response Team in late 2010.  Some donated parts and services were received from area businesses.  Any cost associated to rebuild this vehicle was paid for by forfeited monies of drug dealers/criminals and not the taxpayers of Miami County.

This vehicle affords our Special Response Team an added layer of safety when performing high risk law enforcement services for the citizens of Miami County.
