Electric and Natural Gas Aggregation
What is aggregation?
Your energy bill includes a delivery fee and a supply fee. Aggregation is an option under Ohio law to purchase electricity and/or natural gas supply for members of a buying group. Miami County joined with other area counties as part of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO), creating a larger aggregation area which can give communities leverage to negotiate better rates and potentially reduce administrative costs. Having a program in place ensures the additional program benefits remain available for participants seeking price protection and budget stability. The utility continues to deliver electricity or natural gas to the residents’ homes, but the price of the energy supplied is negotiated by the aggregator.
Electric Aggregation
The Miami County Electric Aggregation (AES Ohio) with the supplier being Dynegy Energy is currently at a fixed rate of 9.59 cents per kWh (kilowatt-hour) for residential and small business customers which will terminate with the December 2026 billing. A new contract with Dynegy Energy begins January 1, 2027, and provides a fixed rate of 11.52 cents per kWh through June 2029 billing period. There is no early termination fee.
